The load-bearing roller

load-bearing rollerThe plain hole load-bearing roller consists of the tube and roller base assemblies, with a screw as spindle. The bearings are form-fitted into the base and the base is fitted in turn into the tube.

  • Diameter of rollers 50mm, 60mm or 80mm depending on application
  • Thickness of tube 1mm with 50mm diameter roller and 2mm for heavier duty rollers with diameter 60mm and 80mm
  • Tube trimmed inside for perfect motion
  • Steel roller base with higher stability
  • Screw connection with a 12mm-diameter screw for heavier weights
  • Blank steel finish for simple applications or electroplated for perfect appearance
  • As an option the roller bases can be fitted with sealing caps to prevent dust or low pressure water getting in

Roller bed

Roller bedThe side rail is made of galvanised St37 cold rolled steel profile.

  • Gauge 3mm
  • Height 80mm, width 40mm
  • Holes set at a 26mm pitch in the upper section and 52mm at the sides
  • Elongated holes at the sides make it possible to align the tracks accurately during installation
  • Very high precision
  • An additional fold increases stability by a factor of roughly 1.5 compared to ordinary profiles

The brake roller

The brake rollerBrake rollers ensure controlled movement of pallets. They are set in the track in such a way that every pallet is in contact with a brake-roller at all times. Brake-rollers work on the gravity principle: the rotation of the load-bearing roller is developed at a ratio of 1:12 by means of a two-tier planetary gear. Rotatable brake-shoes with bearings fitted to the exit side of the gear are pressed against the braking surface by the gravity resulting from rotation. The braking power depends on the downhill impetus and thus on the weight of the pallet. Heavy pallets try to accelerate the brake-rollers more than light pallets. This increases the pressure of the braking weight and consequently the braking power. Pallets with different weights therefore move with the same speed of about 25cm/sec.

  • Brake-rollers in direct contact to the goods being conveyed means very high efficiency
  • No wear and tear to the goods
  • The top of the roller is about 1mm higher than the load-bearing roller
  • Thanks to the shape of the gear, the brake-roller can assembled very quickly and slotted into the divided unloading module

The safety separator

The safety separatorThe safety separator separates the pallet that is ready to be removed from the pallets behind it, making unloading easier. Mechanical separators work in a very similar fashion:

  • The pallet at the front accelerates for a moment and creates a gap between the pallets behind.
  • It passes over a switch pressing it down.
  • A rod (switch rod) transfers this movement to a stopper.
  • The stopper moves out of its static position below the level of the rollers into the holding position about 15mm above the rollers. The pallet then halts at this stopper. The pallets behind stay in place at this stopper.
  • Saar Lagertechnik separators are constructed in such a way that the pressure from the remaining pallets is kept off the separator paddle. A very light pallet can therefore not be lifted by high pressure from behind.
  • The first pallet can be lifted by up to 80mm during removal without unlocking the stopper.
  • The switch rod is either free of pressure (separator with knee-lever version) or under pressure (the direct operating separator version), preventing the pressure from causing deformation.

Separator construction:

  • Knee-lever separator for greater safety in manual or automatic installations
  • Direct operating separator as a cost-effective solution with similar characteristics to manual installations
  • Both the above versions can be fitted with a Hand/Foot release mechanism. The pallet is then released on instructions from the operator
  • Pneumatic or electric driven separator separator in manual or automatic installations, especially in despatch systems connected to automatic sky racks. The pallet can be released by the stock control computer.
  • Separation rocker as a simple component with or without hand/foot release mechanism for order-picking installations
